HOW TO PROPERLY CLEAN YOUR GLASS

Glass surfaces are everywhere—in your home’s windows, your car; even mirrors are reflective glass. Cleaning glass seems simple enough, but inevitably you are occasionally left with streaks or smudges. Proper glass cleaning takes a little patience and the correct tools.

One reason that people see streaks on their glass surface is because they are cleaning glass directly in sunlight. Sunlight quickly evaporates the cleaning solution causing streaks. Whenever possible, avoid direct sunlight.

There are three liquid solutions that can be used for cleaning windows. First, there is the commercial window cleaner available at most stores. There is also a DIY solution comprised of one part vinegar and one part water. Finally, you can use warm water and detergent, which is recommended for prewashing or cleaning heavily soiled glass.

To get your glass perfectly clear, use a lint free cloth. This could be a paper towel or a commercially sold microfiber cloth. Another great cleaning tool is a black and white newspaper. Using small strokes and moving from top to bottom should give your window a streak free gleam.
